Experienced architectural designer, with demonstrated skills in creative solutions, design development, building systems integration, construction documents and construction contract administration.  Skilled in schematics, sketching, strategy, project management, negotiation, and leadership.   A constant achiever – winning awards in fields entered, as well as a published artist.

EXPERIENCE & DESIGN ESSENCE

More than 15 years experience in planning, design, creativity, project delivery, and involved in more than 40 architecture projects –  with a cumulative construction budget of $75M+; including  a handful of international projects: sitting locations, interior architecture and design development.  Shirley’s  work shows an appreciation for details, proportions and the human experience within architecture spaces, and craftsmanship with an aesthetic quality of design work including technical detail application – some intricate and delicate.

ACADEMIC  

Shirley is trilingual with an education in Three (3) continents, beginning in Asia, then a Bachelor of Architecture B. ARCH from the University of Notre Dame, USA; an MBA from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, UK; Innovation in the Age of Disruption Certificate from INSEAD; and a Negotiation Mastery Certificate from Harvard Business School Online, while her academic and work journeys allowed her to live in Six (6) metropolis.

FINANCIAL & TECHNOLOGY

A  Website Design Certificate from the previous Institute of Computer Studies, Toronto, continuous use of graphical software,and technology exposed her to digital changes.  While a summer internship with Merrill Lynch provided a preview of financial markets.

ART & SOCIETY

Since being a guest solo artist by the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, Shirley continued her visual arts participation with various art group associations.  Her societal contributions in engaging her communities are present in various art shows, lectures, and volunteerism.  Additionally, she was an active resident panelist in the 2013-2012 deliberations of the Ontario Condominium Act 1998.  During the review recommendations, she lobbied in support of the addition of a tribunal oversight.  These recommendations to the ministry of Consumer Affairs were the basis for the Ontario Condominium Act revised 2018.

LEADERSHIP  

Shirley leads in the developer role, able to connect innovators’ and executors’ mindsets by guiding to a directed end result generating  value creation of scope brought by stakeholders dependent on the complexity that may be presented by the directed task.  She is a problem solver with a drive for results, unafraid to address change in the service process.  She welcomes work not quite routine, requiring research with purposeful intent to spark potential innovation.  When in search of alternate designs, allied with a creative realm, she gives a unique voice with minimal re-work of design solutions.  Her performance has allowed her to achieve numerous milestones in her life.   

WHO , WHAT

Shirley is known by peers to be analytical and creative.  She has an intuitive intent in her organization skills, and proven to be competent, consistent, efficient, hardworking and persevering.  She gleans from her architecture background experience of creation, patterns and puzzles – a strategic thinking which leads to preparedness in negotiation simulations.  She has been active with various initiatives from creative fine art projects to architecture building designs, using her skills to bring ideas to achieve the progress needed for fruition.  She continues to refine her skills; and during an MBA course discerned an interest in strategy, branding, and entrepreneurship.

OUTLOOK  

She tries things once to capture expression of ‘life’ and one’s self within life to make her days count-making her exciting and sophisticated.
